My idea to DIY a large. wshable dog bed: Thrift a machine-washable comforter. Fold into a rectagle the right size for the dog. Measure the folded comforter and sew one (or two or more) box-shaped covers for it out of machine washable fabric. Close with overlapping panels like a pillow sham. The comforter will wash better than a commercial bed. A few stitches through the whole thing will give it a tufted look. For round or oval cut shapes out of the comforter, sew around the edges and stack. Design, Dog Bed Furniture, Covered Dog Bed, Large Dog Crate, Outdoor Pet Bed, Cat Bed, Cozy Dog

DIY dog bed for less! I'm too tight to spend $60 for a large dog bed, especially needing two for our dogs so I made one for both and a lot less! I took 6 pillows and stitched them together, covered them with 3 yards of fleece fabric (one a printed fabric and just a plain fabric- 6 yards total) and cut to size. The size of this dog bed is huge, about the length and width of a standard sofa's cushions. Dog Bed Large

Easy Homemade Dog Bed! I used 1 1/2 yard of fleece for the top and 1 1/2 yard of black Duck cotton (much thicker and holds to hardwood or concrete floor better). To be safe if you have a large dog like me, buy 2yards of each. I used an old comforter, and pillow filling for the insides. Simply fold it in whichever size fots your dog, sew the layers together on the sides. Then place it on the Duck fabric, lay the fleece on top. Cut 1 1/2-2inch strips on both duck and fleece and tie together! I also sewed a simple 24inch zipper on the bottom so I can take it off and wash it and change or rearrange the filling as needed!
