This Colt Army Special revolver has been documented to have been found in a car stolen by the 1930s outlaw Clyde Barrow from his uncle, Frank Barrow. The car was abandoned, then found and confiscated on May 6, 1930 with the gun inside it. It appears that Clyde had previously stolen the gun from Texas Ranger M. T. Gonzaullas, and that its modifications (a Fitzgerald-style short barrel, bobbed hammer, and cutaway trigger guard) had been made while it was in the Ranger's possession. Via RIA
