This figure displays different conformations of protein structure. The primary structure is composed of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. Secondary structure is coiled/folded and help together by hydrogen bonds. Common secondary structures are alpha and beta plated sheets. Tertiary structures are characterized by folding and coiling due to interactions among R groups. Finally, the quaternary structure is the association of two or more polypeptide chains by noncovalent forces.
