The California Lighthouse, known to locals as Faro, sits high on a limestone plateau in Hudishibana, near Arashi Beach and Sasariwichi Dunes on the northwest tip of Aruba. It has the distinction of being the tallest structure in Aruba. This lighthouse derives its name from a British steamship, S.S.

Fort Orange is a military fortification in Kralendijk, Bonaire. Originally built in 1639 as an unnamed fort by the Dutch West India Company, it is the oldest structure on the island of Bonaire. The fort was never used for its intended purpose. In 1816, it was rebuilt and named Fort Orange.

The Klein Curacao (‘Little Curacao’) lighthouse was first built in 1850, on a tiny spit of land 11km off the southeastern tip of Curacao in the Caribbean Sea. It’s exactly the kind of place that Jack Sparrow would have pranced around. Now it is hollowed out, crumbling rapidly, and nominated for endangered status, despite being rebuilt once in 1879 and again in 1913. The 20m tall lighthouse tower is abandoned, along with the two ruined 2-story keeper’s houses flanking it, but still functional. It was reactivated with a solar-powered LED beacon during the restoration of Curacao’s aids to navigation in 2008, having stood utterly dormant for many years prior. A stretch of coast dotted with rusting shipwrecks attests to its necessity. Now the LED emits two white flashes every 15 seconds.

Lighthouse Near Marken (Paard van Marken)
The Paard van Marken is a lighthouse on the Dutch peninsula Marken, in the IJsselmeer. It was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive lighthouse had stood on the site since the early 18th century; the current lighthouse has been a listed building since 1970. The lighthouse is inhabited and therefore cannot be visited.
The low lighthouse of IJmuiden is a round, red -brown, cast -iron tower designed by Quirinus Harder and was built between 1877 and 1878 by D.A. Schretlen & Co from Leiden. The tower has a height of 24 meters and, together with the high lighthouse of IJmuiden, forms a light line that marks the IJgeul and the entrance of the harbor. The tower has five floors and 88 steps. The lighthouse was identical to the simultaneously built high lighthouse of IJmuiden. In 1909, however, there were the top three floors and the Lichthuis removed and moved to Vlieland, where this entirely serves as an independent lighthouse. It is situated in the region Westerwolde in the east of the province of Groningen near the German border. Fort Bourtange was built in 1593 during the Dutch Revolt and was used until 1851. Between 1967 and 1992 the star fort was gradually restored to its mid-18th-century state and it is currently an open-air museum.
