The bridal costume from Lefkas starts with an ankle-length chemise, which has white-work embroidery on the cuffs and dickey. Fastened beneath the breast is a cane or wooden stay covered with fabric. Three full-skirted gathered petticoats are attached at the waist. Over all this goes a silk dress with a long-sleeved bodice that barely covers the breast and a long full skirt that covers the chemise.
