Elizabeth of York began her life in the House of York, as the daughter of  Edward IV.  When Henry VII Tudor defeated her uncle, Richard III, and took the throne from the Yorks, he married the princess of that family to unify his House with that of  his enemies.  Thus, she married into House of Tudor and was the mother of Henry VIII.
