Incredible quality and come in different sizes! 🔗 Below... | By Emyludesigns | You wanted to know how we made this DIY slatted planter wall? Well let me show you. First I started with five and a half inch cedar fence pickets. To turn them into slats I ripped each fence picket into thirds. It's about one and six eighths of an inch. Then I trimmed the bevel off and made sure all the pieces were the same length and then sanded one side down smooth to remove that rough sun look. Then I made a frame using two by twos and two by fours. Since we wanted our frame to cover the backside of our chimney. It needed to be 70 inches by 70 inches. I assembled the frame together using three inch wood screws and this scrap piece of wood to serve as a spacer so that it had the perfect width between each board as I went along. I used my 18 gauge nail gun and one and a quarter inch nails to fasten all the slats and finally, I gave it several coats of clear Thompson's water sealer which doesn't change the color or tone of the wood, mounted it to the back of the chimney and then added these ceramic planters that we picked up at Walmart. This simple DIY totally changed the look of our outdoor living space and if you like tutorials like this, don't forget to follow our page.
