She was martyred at his own hand because she refused to renounce her newly acquired Christian faith.
Young Saint Anthony of the Kiev Caves (11th cent) became a monk at Mount Athos. Excelling at humility and obedience, he was sent back home to inspire others. He settled in a cave near Kiev and built a church in honor of the Dormition of the MostHoly Mother of God. His settlement was the basis of the famous Kiev Caves monastic complex, commissioned by a vision of the MostHoly Mother of God. He was granted the gifts of clairvoyance and wonderworking. (Sept 2)
