Base-10 to base-8 in 1 stage. Decimal digits have as coefficients the numbers in the diagonals from top to bottom, main diagonal to unit diagonal (1). Skip one digit of the decimal from end each time. Add and cast out 8's and carry for the next sum. Each number in the row is equal to twice the number below it and to the left plus the number immediately below it or 0 if none.
