Unfortunately, he was arrested for his revolutionary song by Austrian authorities, turned over to the Turks, tortured for days along with his friends and then killed by drowning in the river Danube. He did not live to see the revolution, but he sewed the seeds of freedom which grew in the hearts of Greeks and Phil-Hellenes…
