How Do Leaves Breathe? A Simple Science Experiment for Kids
Kids will love this simple science experiment as they get hands-on with the process of photosynthesis and transpiration!
Photosynthesis Model
After learning the photosynthesis song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1_uez5WX1o, we create a photosynthesis model. This model begins as a single sheet of copy paper. Fold it in half and cut out a large leaf shape. Very little scrap should be left over, but don’t toss it away! The two leaves are glued together from the petiole towards the tip. We draw in veins and label the upper epidermis. Fold the upper leaf back, so it stands up and away from the lower leaf. Draw the veins on the lower…

Plant Cell Lesson Plans including photosynthesis game and activity sheets/ideas.
A fun discrepant event for cell membrane transport. We introduced the terms "diffusion", "osmosis" and "semipermeable" today. Different extracts (peppermint, lemon, cinnamon, hazelnut, etc.) go inside the balloons. You have to redo a decent amount between classes because the scents go away after a while. Regardless, it was a fun day.

Cellular Respiration - Graphic Organizer - Storyboarding
Biology Inclusion Class Set Includes 3 Student Texts, 1 Student Workbook, Teachers Edition, and Teachers Resource Library (Ags Biology) I use storyboarding to teach the processes of protein synthesis, photosynthesis, and cellular respiration. I introduce my students to the concept of storyboarding by showing them this American Film Institute video, which can be found on these two web sites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWPjjoOFIu8 or…
Science Reading #8 - Photosynthetic Animals - Sub Plan (Google Slide & PDFs)
In this article, students will read about two animals (green sea slug and yellow spotted salamander) that can photosynthesize due to symbiotic relationships with algae. This is a great in class activity, homework assignment, weekly science reading assignment, sub plan or in school suspension plan. Use this to save time looking for engaging and appropriate articles with questions!

Photosynthesis for Kids
It's February and there's about ten inches of snow in my yard right now, but we're just wrapping up our study of plants. The middle of winter might not be the ideal time to learn about plants, but that's what my kiddos asked to learn about. So, plants it was! Over the next several posts,
