SAINT GEORGE Byzantine art - wonderful details of the medals
Righteous Veronica touched the hem of Jesus' garment and was healed from a long-standing issue of blood (Matthew 9: 20-22). She gave the Lord a veil, with which the Lord wiped His face on the way to crucifixion. An image of His face remained on the veil. She is celebrated July 12th.

Byzantine Iconography – is the oldest and only Christian art form survived unchanged for the past 2000 years. The term 'icon' - icona, ikona, икона (Russian) comes from the Greek word eikona (εἰκών, eikōn, ) which simply means image. The Eastern Orthodox believe that the first icons of Christ and the Virgin Mary were painted by St. Luke the Evangelist.
