Rudolph Valentino in Chicago

Rudolph Valentino, a silent film star, was one of the original sex symbols of the 1920s. Although an Italian actor, he was dubbed the "Latin Lover." In the Chicago Tribune's archives, several glass plates of Valentino's Chicago visits were uncovered. He spent time with family, walking his dog, recording and dancing on the South Side. His premature death in 1926, at age 31, left millions of women around the world mourning his loss.
