Monastery In The Snow by Elias Pentikis

The "Panagia Ikosifinissa" nunnery dedicated to the Virgin Mary, laying on a beautiful position in Pangeo or Paggaio mount in East Macedonia region, near the city of Kavala in Greece. At this place, the divine energies are running so high. If you find yourself here you can definitely feel it.

Landscapes in Serres, East Macedonia region - northern Greece. The method I used in order to have everything in focus was a 3-images focus stacking. Two images for the fields to the foreground and one image for the sky.

Dead Nature by Elias Pentikis

Hay bales in a field around the Kerkini lake area in Serres regional unit - Greece. The sky and the clouds on that day were uniquely beautiful and dramatic. When I edited this photo I felt that a black and white interpretation suited better this particular composition.

When autumn comes, people link the season to a beautiful reddish and even foggy environment. And that was my initial intention when I started to process this capture back then. To show the colorful leaves and their reflection on the water. However, it turned out to be a much darker approach, more strange and moody. This image received an Honorable Mention in the Monochrome Awards 2016.

A fallen tree touching in a very gentle and subtle way the surface of the Nestos river. The Nestos river stems from the Rila mountains in Bulgaria. There it is called the Mesta river. In Ptolemus geography, the river is referred to as Nestus and it is said to be the boundary between Macedonia and Thrace. The total length of the river is 230km (140mi).

From wiki: "The Rio–Antirrio Bridge (Greek: Γέφυρα Ρίου-Αντιρρίου), officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge after the statesman who first envisaged it, is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece by road. The bridge accommodates both pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic.

Diamond Rocks by Elias Pentikis

On May 28th and 29th 2016, we visited the Timfi mount and its famous alpine lake. The Timfi lake is the largest and most known alpine lake in Greece. It is located under the Ploskos peak (Ploskos peak is 2.377m high) at 2.050m.The perimeter of the lake is at about 350m and extends up to an area of 8.000 square meters. The lake is the habitat of an amphibious species called Tritons, which are a protected species under national laws.

At the forefront is the Roussanou monastery, dedicated to St. Barbara in Meteora, Kalambaka - Greece. This photo earned an Honorable Mention in the Monochrome Awards 2016. The 2016 Monochrome Awards at that time had received nearly 7000 submissions from 86 countries around the world.

My personal favorite black and white image, titled "Abandoner". Inspired by Steven Wilson's titular song. Steven Wilson is an inspiration to me. A dark, sentimental and powerful musician, a phenomenal artist, someone whose music accompanies me every day and saturates my way of seeing and feeling the world.

16th Century Stone Bridge by Elias Pentikis

The stone bridge of Paleokaria was built between 1500 and 1550 A.D. It is a 26m length stone bridge filling a gap of 19 meters with its arch. It has a height of 10 meters while the waterfall behind it is 12 meters tall. The two waterfalls that adorn the bridge are basically two consecutive small dams, the first a 12 meters dam and the second a 2 meters dam and they were built in 1975. The bridge once used to connect the Thessaly region with that of the Epirus region in Greece.
