Things That Go Bump In The Night

Stephen King, The Shining - one of the few Stephen King books I didn't read as an adolescent

Stayed up a whole weekend, 48 hours straight, reading it. Scared me so bad I couldn't do laundry cause the washer/dryer was in the basement..along with a floor drain!

"I'd just moved into my first home, a minuscule studio apartment, when I read Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot. I lay curled in a tight ball in my bed, terrified there'd be a rap at the window (on the seventh floor), and I would combust. Dr. Sleep. Great book, reminiscent of older King books. Just the right amount of humanity and horror all within the realm of "just maybe." I know I'll never look at motorhomes on the highway the same way.

Doctor Sleep A Novel (Book) : King, Stephen : The now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) must save a very special twelve-year-old girl from a tribe of murderous paranormals.

I consider this to be King's best literary work. I also consider it to be one of the best pieces of literature in the 20th C. It has nearly all literary motifs, and heavy in symbolism. A good read, and a good study in lit!

My favorite Stephen King book. King's books kept me interested in adolescence and early adulthood. This built on my growing passion for reading later. THANKS STEPHEN!
