Small world play gives children an outlet to imaginary play. It gives them the opportunity to role play and retell stories that are familiar to them.

Every December, Our class gets a visitor from up north! The Gingerbread Man comes to spend the Holidays with us! This of course spurred an interest in the different versions of the Gingerbread Man! A wonderful small world idea for exploring the frog life cycle.

Last year I bought some hessian bags from a pound shop and we've used them as 'containers' for some small world play. This little turtle world is still out and being enjoyed.
