Making a Mug

Making a mug. As you can see it is not that difficult. You don't need so much toosl but the moment you assembly the clay is key. It needs to be flexible in order to bend correctly but not too much if not the clay is too soft and impossible to work with. Yesterday I did this shape of mug bit in porcelain and it was sooo different I had the feeling I was new at this. Weird sensation as I hand building this mug since 2019.... This contains: An unfired porcelain cup, hand painted with watercolour style coloured underglaze background, and sgraffito patterns scratched in to parts of the design. A black line work underglaze is then painted on, intuitively, in patterns and lines, leaving the overall design in the form of an abstract feather or leaf shape.

Hand painting cups ☕️

Each of my cups are individually hand painted with a fine brush, and underglaze colours & stains.
