I used this mirror glaze recipe for Father's Day. It turned out great. It is sweet, so you might want to consider reducing the sugar by half. Also, there is a link to a webpage where there are written instructions for the cake and the mirror glaze.
1 cup packed brown sugar cup heavy cream 4 tablespoons butter Pinch of sea salt 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Melt butter in pot, mix in brown sugar, cream and salt. Cook over medium-low heat and whisk gently for about 7 minutes
