Ο Κεφάλας, γνωστός Πελοποννήσιος αγωνιστής, ήταν ο πρώτος που μπήκε στην Τρίπολι στις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου 1821 και ύψωσε στα τείχοι της την Ελληνική σημαία. Σκοτώθηκε στη μάχη στο Μανιάκι με τον Παπαφλέσσα.Ο γερμανός ζωγράφος Peter Von Hess φιλοτέχνησε κατά το διάστημα 1827-1834, 40 λιθογραφίες με θέματα από την Ελληνική Επανάσταση
