Rebetiko by David Prudhomme - Rebetiko is a fine piece of mythologising, and Prudhomme is clearly in love with both the music's urgent songs of exile and its outlaw imagery. The artwork's largely muted tones shift from sand to clay to inky blackness and into the thin light of morning as the gang move from alleyways to hash dens, spilling drink and spitting bravado as they sing and dance with an intoxicating desperation.

I love the bouzouki--especially when it's accompanied by a clarinet!

Greece is my home country and everything that involves its tradition moves me, as it reminds me of my youth. Bouzouki's sound is the most Greek sound I can think of, while rebetes - the "outlaw" musicians of Greece, of decades past - are a great part of greek music. This is a clay sculpture, a figure of a rebeti playing rebetiko - greek traditional music. Naif sculpture, painted with acrylics and oils, handmade by me. Size: 27,5 cm / 10,82 inch
