GreatMartyr Arethas (6th cent Arabia) was prefect of Negran city. The Jewish Arabian king wanted to eradicate Christianity from the land. He sentenced all Christians to death. Believers barricaded themselves in Negran city. The king didn't dare attack, so he said he would just collect taxes. People opened the gates. 427 clergymen were burned to frighten the people; prefect Arethas and others in charge were imprisoned. 4299 people of all ages were killed for refusing to deny Christ.
