Demis Roussos Born: June 15, 1946, Alexandria, Egypt. Died: January 25, 2015. Artemios "Demis" Ventouris Roussos was a Greek singer and performer who had international hit records as a solo performer in the 1970s after having been a member of Aphrodite's Child, a progressive rock group that also included Vangelis.
Maria Callas (1923-1977). was an American-born Greek soprano and one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20c.. Critics praised her bel canto technique, wide-ranging voice and dramatic gifts. Her repertoire ranged from classical opera seria to the bel canto operas of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini; further, to the works of Verdi and Puccini; and, in her early career, to the music dramas of Wagner. Her musical and dramatic talents led to her being hailed as "La Divina".
