Kir-Yianni Akakies Sparkling Rosé, Naoussa and Amyndeon, Greece (nonvintage) Recommended by Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli, general manager of Island Creek Oyster Bar, Boston. "I love off-the-beaten-path wines, particularly when that makes them super-affordable," he says. "This sparkling bottle from Kir-Yianni is made of the grape varietal Xinomavro and has this great strawberry and cherry tone to it with hints of chocolate and a faint but very pleasurable amount of sweetness." $45

2011 Domaine Sigalas Assyrtiko Santorini. Now I know why Greek wine is not recognized... quite poor. Not enjoyed at the 2012 Grand Tour.
