New Martyrs Isaac and Joseph of Georgia
Born into a Muslim family, Holy Martyrs Isaac and Joseph (9th cent Georgia) were secretly raised Christian by their mother. Very faithful, they wanted to move to Constantinople to worship openly. When the Muslim ruler of their town questioned them, they admitted this. The ruler had them beheaded, as they refused to deny Christ. Their bodies emanated such light afterward that frightened people pleaded for their burial. A church was later built over their resting-place. (Sept 16)
