Contra Costa: “Contra Costa” Train Ferry, Port Costa, c.1920 Launched in 1914, this was one of two enormous railroad ferryboats that operated across the Carquinez Strait from Benicia to Port Costa until 1930. The "Contra Costa" was 433 feet in length and along with the "Solano" were the largest ferry boats in the world. California's Contra Costa County sign rated 9.0. Sign has a TAC "number on it that corresponds to Matthew's grading system 9 to 9.4, almost perfect, may have a factory flaw or almost no damage, if there is, there will be none in field, only chips will be around the edge, great gloss. Believed to be from sometime 1950-1975. Small pump plate style of sign measures 10" round.
