The Cullinan I (top) and Cullunan II (bottom) diamonds, which are the largest top quality cut diamonds in the world. The Cullinan I is set in the Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross, and the Cullinan II is in front of the Imperial State Crown. Weighing 3,106 carats (1.33 pounds), it was the largest diamond ever found, was discovered in the Premier Mine in South Africa in 1905. The diamond was purchased in 1907 by the Transvaal Government and presented to Edward VII as a birthday gift.
