Inspired by the ancient and traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement—Ikebana—Montreal-based artist and photographer Raku Inoue creates colorful portraits of insects and other animals using natural art materials only - flowers, twigs, leaves, and stems from his garden. Each and every one of these beautiful animals is unique as he chooses his materials according to the seasons and what nature offers during them. For this issue, numbered 8, Fool Magazine focuses their gaze toward the land of the rising sun. They visited the country several times in order to understand their philosophies and gain their trust. In Japan, you don't just walk in… I was tasked to produce three images for an article inside this issue. "Visions of Japan" was written by three world renown chefs: Andoni Luis Aduriz, Thomas Frebel and the last but certainly not the least, Sean Brock.
