Poitevin horse. A draft horse from west central France. It has a calm, kind disposition and is used for driving and in equine therapy. An ancient breed, it is a handsome and relatively slender heavy horse; partially owed to Friesian blood. Sadly, with so many appealing features, it is on the verge of extinction with a very small population and lack of genetic diversity.
