Teran Sands | Family Compound Living on Instagram: "Here’s what we did with the land for our family compound. My mom originally bought the land as one big piece of property. When we were all interested in moving to the land we decided which piece each of us wanted. This was after we reviewed the land and county restrictions and knew that each of us needed at least 2 acres to have a water well and septic system. We then had the property divided into three new pieces. Then we replatted and resurveyed the land. After that my mom deeded the land to each of us (we did pay her for our land) so we could move forward Building our homes. The mortgage process was easy with the land in our own names. This is just how we chose to do it! #familycompound" Compound Living Ideas, Family Compound Layout, Family Village Plans, Family Compound Ideas Layout, Compound Living, Compound House, Modern Gardening, Multigenerational House Plans, Pocket Neighborhood

The land we bought could be divided, and the only restriction we had was that each person needed at least 2 acres to be able to build a home with a separate septic system and well. so we did not want to make any piece smaller than 2 acres when we redid the new property lines. There are many ways to do this, but like I explain on step three we decided we wanted the land split, and everyone on their own land. This does give everyone freedom with their biggest investment and does allow anyone to sell if they need or want to, no one is locked in.
