When Audrey entered the set for the first time in Eliza’s ball gown, she was so beautiful the crew and the rest of the cast stood silently gaping at her, then broke out with applause and cheers. “I have always so badly wanted to be beautiful," Hepburn said to costume designer Cecil Beaton in a letter after viewing photos of herself as Eliza Doolittle. "Looking at those photographs I saw that, for a short time at least, I am - all because of you."
