The Gallery as it was: Prior to the Fashion District Philadelphia, the space was once called The Gallery at Market East and was opened in 1977 and was later expanded as Galleries I and II in the early 1980s. The Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) acquired Gallery I in April 2003 from The Rouse Company and Gallery II in the third fiscal quarter of 2004 from the state's Public School Employees' Retirement System.
