25th August and today's tiara is the Mellerio Floral Wreath Tiara that belonged to the Italian Royal Family. It was on display at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1867, and bought the following year by King Victor Emmanuel to give to his daughter in law, Margherita, as a wedding gift. Queen Margherita wore it often, sometimes with a second tiara. The tiara was passed down the generations to Queen Marie Jose, who took it with her into exile. Today it is owned by the Albion Art Institute.
