The Pelican low coffee table by German furniture designer Deniz Aktay is an interesting design that impresses us with its art and creativity. Pelican evokes memories of art sculptures as it is created using a single piece of metal stripe. It appears somewhat inspired by the color of the Pelican’s beak. The metal stripe is artfully bent in an hourglass-like shape at the bottom which stands stably on the ground without any additional support.

Graphic, curvilinear, sculptural and slightly crude all at once, this chair is a unique creation, the sort of thing we've been drawn to for years. Our admiration for the planning, effort and execution by an artist with minimal and, most likely, self-taught furniture-making skills runs high. Chair freaks everywhere just love this one.

The Hullabaloo is a stand-alone bookshelf that twists and turns in an eclipsing fashion. It’s built by arranging four cuboidal quadrants and twisting them, in order to create a full circle. Aktay calls it ‘a double bent Möbius strip’. In order to make it functional, and a great storage solution, he had to open each quadrant on one side, to create two similar quadrants. The function is fit into the form to create this spectacular furniture design, that seems more like a sculpture. Read More.
