The fact is that this symbol has been known as Peter's Cross for the better part of two-thousand years. It is written and widely believed that Peter was crucified upside down by his own request.

This symbol actually means humility towards Christ. When Peter was executed, he asked for the cross to be turned upside down because he felt that he wasn't worthy to die the same way that Christ did. Educate yourself.
