Grand Duchess Vladimir's famous Emeralds, photographed when they were set as a long Art Deco sautoir, in the collection of Edith McCormick Rockefeller, daughter of John D. Rockefeller, and wife of Chicago tycoon Harold McCormick. After her death, her heirs unmounted the stones and sold them to Cartier for $480,000. It reportedly cost Barbara Hutton $1,000,000 to acquire them in 1945 - the largest weighing over 100.00 carats. Barbara had Cartier mount the emeralds as a collar necklace/tiara set.
