The independent cultural foundation Studio 4, presents the sixth and last exhibition that takes place at the project space Temporary Duplex, which –as its name implies– consists of two parts and is temporary. The room Temporary Duplex: The Laundry is housed in the space the Breeder gallery started. Up to date, the space functions as the warehouse and office of a tourist business, where –amongst other tasks– the daily laundry of the linen takes place.
“The green line in Cyprus, for decades, constitutes a particular, as well as paradoxical, spatial, political and symbolic boundary, a “temporary” buffer zone separating two clearly-delineated identities.Upon the green line, any sense of normality is abrogated, a state of exception is established, while opposing discourses on the absolute alterity of the “other” dominate on both sides of this buffer zone.

Accepting the invitation from the Greek National Opera’s then artistic Director, Stefanos Lazaridis, back in 2007 the famed British director Graham Vick devised a version of La Bohème set in modern-day Athens, transporting Puccini’s beloved opera from 19th century Paris to 21st century Exarchia.
