The WW2 tanks made a big impression on me both for their mechanical abilities and for their fearful destructive power. I still like tanks.

drachma - this is what I asked from my parents to buy a comic book and ice-cream whenever we went to my favorite aunt's house. A day spent like that was the best anyone could ask for.

Some people had no phone and would pay to make a call at a kiosk. In villages with no phones, if there was a call for someone the main kiosk would receive it and word would be passed for who the call was for and it would relay from one person to another quite quickly and the whereabouts of the person would be found, for instance, by dispatching a young boy who would run as fast as he could to not waste time finding and telling the person "someone is asking for you on the phone".

We always thought the German army was the best and their equipment was the best and we wanted their pistols and sub machine guns. We used to play "Germans" which is the same as playing "Guns" or "War" in North America. We'd take hostages and make up strategies on how to win, all outdoors in between buildings and on the streets. That was the funnest with so many kids involved!

Looks like some of the downtown area which was very unkept, but wherever you saw the ΕΒΓΑ dairy products sign you'd smell the ice cream from far away and it had such a warm delicious smell as it mixed with the warm air. It may be the companies used more real dairy products back then.
