Composite capital from 43, King Street, Westminster. This house was built for Admiral Russell, 1st earl of Orford, in 1716-17, probably to designs by Thomas Archer. The admiral's social connections may have helped him break the uniformity of Inigo Jones's Covent Garden piazza which the house overlooks.
