Orchid Species Photographs
Cym. Tigrinum is a delightful clumping miniature cymbidium with a unique inflorescence style and a different form of flower. The species loves water in the late spring thru early fall. After about November 1st only lightly spray it and keep it very cool. No fertilizer! (If you water throughout the winter you will rot the roots) Bought at the Santa Barbara International Orchid show March 2013
A beautiful and hardy, EASY to grow Mexican species, Laelia anceps, a native of Mexico but also occurs more rarely in Guatemala & Honduras. Laelia anceps' flowers occur in many forms of lavender, white and blue. One of the hardiest for cold tolerance of any of the Cattleya alliance, grows nicely on my patio in Santa Maria, CA. The blooming season is Nov. through January.
