The underapron, the mesa podia is made of silk. Over this is worn the podia; on festive occasions by those who can afford one. It is covered with elaborate cord embroidery. This type of apron is not found in any other Greek costume. But see this Vlach costume from Sqepur in Albania. This might give some insight into the origin of the Karagouni of Thessaly, Greece
