These embroidered panels were displayed in an exhibition of Oaxacan textiles last summer at San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca. The textiles were from the collection of Sr. Remigio Mestas, a well-known dealer and textile expert. Last Saturday I saw a video produced by Sr. Mestas that showed Mazatec women from the town of San Bartolome Ayautla embroidering textiles for the exhibition. Wall of Huipiles
This is a display of huipiles from the state of Oaxaca that is in the anthropology museum of Mexico City collection. There are two Chinantec huipiles from Ojitlan and Usila and four Mazatec (I think) huipiles.
