This photograph of Queen Victoria was taken by John Jabez Edwin Mayall in May 1860. At the time this picture was taken Queen Victoria was 41 years old and had been Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for 23 years. Her nine children ranged in age from three years old to nineteen years old. Her first grandchild Wilhelm II, Prince of Prussia, had been born in January 1859 and her second grandchild, Princess Charlotte of Prussia, would be born in two months. According to one of her biographers, Queen Victoria wrote an average of 2,500 words a day during adulthood. From July 1832 until her death, she kept a detailed journal, which eventually encompassed 122 volumes. Remind your kids of this when they "don't have time to write". Victoria Series
