Karpathos, Greece, is the second largest of the Greek Dodecanese islands, in the southeastern Aegean Sea. Because of its remote location, it has preserved many peculiarities of dress, customs and dialect, the last resembling those of Crete and Cyprus. The ferry I was on pulled into the harbor for a dawn stop during my trip to Greece in 1984. By that trip, my second to that nation, I had already fallen in love with everything and anything Greek.
