This image identifies the Baroque period. Marquetry flooring and very complex architecture can be seen, typical of the period. A number of gold plant motifs line the walls, and a painted mural has been used. The colours used are somewhat bold.

Baroque Interior

The baroque interior of the Austrian National Library forms a beautiful location for over 7 million books. The Austrian National Library is the largest library in Austria. The library is located in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. Jon Reid | Portfolio | Blog | Tumblr

Here, you truly get the sense that you’ve gone back in time. Unlike many Viennese coffee houses which have become well known tourist traps, Café Schwarzenberg…

traces of Beethoven in Vienna

Vienna was the focal point of Ludwig van Beethoven's life for more than 35 years. The traces of the composer are manifold: from a large Beethoven Museum, homes and memorials, places of his triumph and doubt, monuments and Klimt's Beethoven Frieze through to the Beethoven wine tavern.

impressive Austrian Parliament in winter

The Parliament building on Vienna's Ringstrasse boulevard is one of the most important buildings of the Historicism period. Theophil Hansen designed it in the style of ancient Greece. Palais Epstein next door is one of the most important palaces on the Ringstrasse boulevard.
