Nikos Kavvadias was a famous Greek poet and writer. He drew inspiration from his travels around the world as a sailor. He is best known for "Fog" and "Traverso" Many of his poems have been turned into songs.
Andreas Kalvos was a Greek poet of the Romantic school. Even though he only published two collections, "Lyra" and "Lyrica" he became very famous and respected. Among his contemporaries were Dionysios Solomos and Ugo Foscolo.
Dionysios Solomos (Greek: Διονύσιος Σολωμός; 8 April 1798 – 9 February 1857) was a Greek poet from Zakynthos. He is best known for writing the Hymn to Liberty (Greek: Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Ἐλευθερίαν, Ýmnos eis tīn Eleutherían), of which the first two stanzas, set to music by Nikolaos Mantzaros, became the Greek national anthem in 1865.
