JK: Dar es Salaam Darkhana

Iran’s largest Jamatkhana, located in Mashhad, was built in 1972. In this year, Jamatkhanas were introduced throughout the country, superseding other spaces of worship used by the Jamat known by names such as khangah and khane-ye kolon.

Kuze Jamatkhana, in Mombasa’s Old Town, marked the 100th anniversary in 2014. The grandeur of the Jamatkhana shows how large the Jamat had become in East Africa in the early 1900s. The Jamat's first mukhi was appointed decades earlier in 1888.
