Panache Report Old School
Shortly after Marvin Gaye's tragic murder, Motown outbid an eastern real estate company to obtain the rights to the Marvin Gaye story. Motown paid $101,000 for the rights. Motown will also receive 2.5 percent of the profits on any movie made about the late singer's life. Motown also agreed to pay Gaye's estate an additional lump sum of $15,000 or they have the option of holding a premiere, whenever the Gaye film is completed, with the proceeds going to the estate.
