Yesterday's "Harvest Moon" view from Varkiza. The moon gets its name because its very bright and offers a little extra light for farmers burning the midnight oil to bring in all the summer crops. AsNational Geographicnotesyesterday's Harvest Moon was the first time the moon has fallen in October in close to a decade. The last time we had an October Harvest Moon was 2009 and we wont expect another one until 2020.
Tabakaria situated in the rocky eastern region of Chania is the district where since the early 19th century the tanneries for processing leather were located. It is a very atmospheric region an architectural monument of the industrial age. The installation of tanneries happened between 1830 and 1840. Happy Sunday!
"Manoli's bridge" in Evritania. A very special attraction a sight that never shows the same image to the visitor. It was built in 1659 by Manolis Chrysiotis. It was used continuously for 3 centuries as the only passage from Karpenissi to western Central Greece until the construction of Kremasta bridge. Happy month!
