Tetramythos, a fully certified organic grower. Their vineyards are amongst the highest in Greece, and are located on steep slopes at Mount Helmos in Aigiala, Peleponnese, at an altitude of up to 3300 feet. This wine combines the international Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with the local Black of Kalavryta grape, which is only found in this small area. This intriguing combination works very well. Forest fruit, chocolate, burned earth. Elegant texture with soft tannins, explosive fruit.

Antonopoulos Vineyards from Achaia, Peleponnese. Grape variety is the indigenous Vertzami, which is now thought to have originated from the island of Lefkada. 100% varietal wines are rare, but this one is a real treat. The grapes are sourced from vineyards in Lefkada that have an altitude of 1000 feet. Cassis, black berries and truffles. Bold and rich on the palate, with gentle tannins, breathtaking harmony. Needs rich food.

Pin this and I will select a random person to whom I will ship a bottle to from my personal cellar, worldwide (with this label, which is only available in the US market). Domaine Zafeirakis from Tyrnavos, a young wine maker who is receiving a lot of praise. Grape variety is the indigenous Malagousia, which was rescued in the 1970ies and has since been planted in many Greek wine regions. It has become one of the most important indigenous grape varieties of Greece. Citrus fruit, lime and green…

The winemaker Palivos from Nemea, Peleponnese, produces Agiorgitiko in different styles. Agiorgitiko is one of the most important Greek red varieties. This is unoaked and has a real delicious factor to it, lots of bright cherry elements. I always think of Agiorgitiko as the Jennifer Aniston of Greek wine: Nearly everyone likes her, easy to hang out with, nice personality, a crowd pleaser. This wine is great with slightly spicy cuisine like Vietnamese food.

Love this label! Santor Wines, from the Peloponnese. Grape variety is the indigenous and rare Santameriana, which nearly became lost, but has been revived just a few years ago. This wine is the only 100% Santameriana in the world. Intense flavours of pears, peaches, honey, white flowers. Medium bodied with a creamy texture, explosive mid-palate and a strong finish. Think Muscat or Gewürtztraminer.Organic farming.

One of the finest Greek red wines: Domaine Economou from Sitia in Crete. The Sitia 2000 is the current release, a blend of two indigenious varieties, 80% Liatiko and 20% Mandilaria. Prunes, wild herbs and sweet spices. Noticeable smooth tannins. Pure elegance and finesse with a strong focus on the primary fruit. Top New York Sommelier Michael Madrigale is a huge fan.
