Edward Gordon Craig, (B. 01/16/1872, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Eng - D. 07/29/1966 Vence, France), English actor, theatre director-designer, producer, and theorist who influenced the development of the theatre in the 20th century. He was the 2nd child of a liaison between actress Ellen Terry and architect Edward William Godwin. Like Edith (the other child of his parents),he was given the name Craig, which he adopted as a surname.
